Zoho Integration - Case Study

Integration means new possibilities
Skip straight to the case study here:

Zoho CRM customers keep all their account and contact information in one place. This makes adding new Potentials, Quotes, Invoices etc a breeze. As it should. This is best practice for many organisations.

So what happens when you need to do something unrelated to CRM tasks but want to tap into that CRM data silo because its verified, current and related to your everyday business activities?

e.g. You may have specific account management tasks that are performed based on variable criteria such as Quality control checks at periods that vary on a customer by customer basis.

Now there is a way thanks to the latest integration between Zoho Creator and Zoho CRM (as well as Zoho Invoice and Zoho reports).

Put simply, new scripting abilities allow Zoho Creator applications to Create, Fetch, Search and Update CRM records without resorting to API calls. Essentially Zoho are obfuscating API calls in the same way that the Zoho Creator database is obfuscated from the user. Making it simpler and faster to create complex apps that share data between Zoho Products.

Crediblem Systems have been exploring this functionality recently (see our feature on Zoho Blog) and are expecting many more requests for this functionality.

Recently we were approached by Prosound to see if we could develop some applications that would work with a subset of their CRM data in a way that would help streamline and automate to some degree the periodic account management tasks required for some of their customers.

Chester Hull the owner and evangelist for Prosound walked us through the requirements over a couple of short Skype calls (as Prosound are in Virginia, USA and Credible Systems are UK based).

The apps were developed, then reviewed prior to being approved. For part of this time Chester was travelling across Newfoundland and I (the developer) was taking some much needed holiday in beautiful rural Dorset. The miles and time out of the office for both parties never hampered development once; another reason to love the cloud!
